Zune

Everybody’s gotten so excited about the launch of the new Zunes that nobody noticed that there aren’t any Zune 80’s being sold ANYWHERE. Well okay, maybe not anywhere. But a number of retail stores including Kmart, Best Buy, Gamestop, Fry’s, Sears, and Compusa never received any Zune 80’s. Circuit City, Walmart, and Target have very limited stock of Zune 80’s, most of which are gone by now. Those who placed orders from amazon.com in October discovered that their orders are delayed. Hell, even Microsoft’s own online store (zuneoriginals.net) have no Zune 80’s available!

The answer to the mystery of the missing Zune 80’s lies in a problem with the production. Apparently the Zune 80 is six weeks behind the production schedule; the first batch of Zunes was supposed to be on the shelves a month ago. The making of the Flash Zunes were prioritized, which is why fewer Zune 80’s were made. Hopefully we’ll be seeing them in stores right in time for the holiday season.
