This is just a Goldman Sachs analyst’s opinion but according to David Bailey the second-generation iPhone is on its “final design phase.” The hardware design will not change much but 3G is definitely a probability. No one even Apple is expecting iPhone 2.0 will match the hype of the original iPhone but 3G will be a welcome addition. A higher capacity version may also appear prior that early in 2008. The iPods are still Apple’s main strength but no word on a new version.
