We don’t get enough news about portable DVD players, especially the folder or clamshell types. These players remain very popular in countries without a lot of online content services like BVVOD’s recent partnership with French company Archos. In Japan, Bluedot has released another humble DVD player. The BDP-1725 supports DVD±R/RW, CD-R/RW. No it doesn’t have an FM tuner or a built-in MP3 player, not unless the MP3 comes from a disc. What it has over the more popular PMP/MP4 format that is beginning to dominate the portable market is superior viewing. The screen is a 7-inch backlight LED. You get 5 hours of viewing at a single charge. Price is 23,000 yen ($212).
