Slacker radio is at CES ‘08 and the good news is, the Slacker Portable has an official release date. It’s been a long time to launching for Slacker Portable, but they’ve finally settled for a January 31st launching.

The Slacker Portable is not the first Internet Portable Radio. It’s going to be in some stiff competition against Sandisk’s Sansa Connect and the Haier iBiza Rhapsody. Updating your radio stations in a Slacker radio is automatic to play later so Slacker does add a little convenience on portable Internet Radio. Price starts at $199 and maxes out at $299 for the 8GB that stores 40 stations.

FlyTunes.fm was announced at CES and appears to deliver what Slacker promises, except you don’t need to buy their player AND you don’t need to pay a monthly fee. It’ll be available 1/21 for all types of portable media players.
