Just so the world knows they truly exist, Chinese MP5 players (otherwise known as PMPs or MP4 players with Real Media support) made an appearance at Las vegas. Aigo is busy churning out MP5 players. RealPlayer used to be the media player to beat online but not anymore. The format is actually on the wane. Apparently, that’s cue for the Chinese to adopt it.

Real used to be the video/audio stream download of choice for website operators, but I don’t think I’ve seen a Real stream for 2-3 years now. Ditto for Quicktime stuff, it’s all gone Flash and Flash video.
I guess they were able to get the licenses cheaply (or no one cares enough to sue them anymore!)

We’re talking about China, though. Maybe the RealPlayer market is just getting started there, though the most popular Chinese sites like youku.com uses flash or divx.
