Why lug around both a PMP and a camera when you can have them both in one small, sleek, convenient package? The Samsung i8 is the latest in their i-series of hybrid cameras. Besides being a slim, easy to use 8-megapixel camera with a 2.7-inch LCD screen, the i8 also functions as an mp3 player and a PMP. It supports DivX and MPEG4 formats, but can play other file types using the Samsung Converter. Besides that, it can also support text files, either Mac or Windows. No news on how much memory this thing will carry but Samsung speculates it will be around 200MB. At $299, the i8 sounds like a pretty good deal since it’s not as expensive as other point-and-shoot digicams and the extra PMP multimedia mode gives value to your money.
