If Joel Geddis wins in court against Microsoft’s Zune, this may mean a beating for MSFT’s market share in the media player business. The accident happened November of 2006. In his own words:

“I received an electric shock through the earbuds of my Microsoft Zune. Simultaneously, the Zune software reset and emitted a very loud noise through the earbuds.

Since the incident, I’ve suffered blood and fluid leakage from my ear canal, impaired hearing, and incessant ringing and discomfort.

I’ve been treated with vitamins, steroids, pain killers, sleep aids, anti-depressants, and other medications. All, to no avail.”

The problem was not only Jeff’s. After he informed Microsoft, Jaret Rettell of Microsoft Zune Escalations called him up saying other Zune owners had reported the same experience and asked him for his medical records and requested he returned the defective Zune.

Have you been injured by a defective Zune? You can go to this web site where Jeff’s story can be found as well as the address and number of his litigating attorney.

Have you any idea how many defective Zunes there are? Is this the first-gen Zune or are the new Zunes defective, too?

Sarah, he said this happened on November 2006, at that time there were only Zune 30s, not the new ones.
