Skycross single antenna can handle multiple frequencies
4 02 2008
An antenna that can receive multiple-in, multiple-out signals and multiple frequencies. Sounds impossible? Not quite! An antenna company called Skycross developed a new technology called iMAT (isolated mode antenna technology) which allows a user to get two ports for one frequency in one antenna - without the signals interfering. The result is that theoretically, you can get an infinite number antennas and receive an infinite number of signals, though at the moment the recommended limit is three or four. Antennas that can handle multiple signals requires less effort to reach a base station and are more energy-efficient. Skycross antennas come in data cards and USB bongles, and will soon be found in mobile phones and later on, laptops and router cards. Watch out for this at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona late February.
