February 5, Apple files a trademark protection for “hand-held units for playing electronic games; hand-held units for playing video games; stand alone video game machines; electronic games other than those adapted for use with television receivers only; LCD game machines; electronic educational game machines; toys, namely battery-powered computer games”.
Now I’m pretty satisfied with the current gaming market, portable or otherwise. That Nokia is going to release a lot of advanced games in some its phones is very good news for me, indeed. Apple is not merely going to jump into the bandwago, but rather attempt to change the entire landscape of gaming. That the old Apple faithful are going to buy these “new” Apple products is a foregone conclusion. What I’m curious about is how Apple is actually going to do gaming?

apple can easily do this and this is how they will change the market forever. There player will be nothing more than a widened ipod to start with with lessor features. They will use ONLY itunes as the only outlet to buy games there fore dealing with no retail costs, also no sold out issues. They will most likely also make it that you can go to a apple hot spot to pay and download games…. everyone remember the deal they made with coffee shops for wifi downloads. Im sure they will get there peice of the market because no matter what those loyal to apple products will buy it as they have done with all other products.. That alone will bring them enough to continue the system. Of all itunes offer thats the only thing that interested me in there ipod line to begin with. And i might point out no one has figured out how to hack the ipod games or to make games outside of itunes for the ipod . I guess ill be making room for yet another portable game player at work.
