Poll: Will You Buy an Apple Clone?
16 02 2008Throughout the months that PMP Today has been online, we have brought you many iPod, iPod Touch and iPhone Clones. Though we get several queries every week from readers about them (some offering good money to us if we could send them working units), we wonder if people are actually interested enough in Apple knock-offs for keep the cloning industry afloat. Yes, we worry for the cloners. Which is why we ask our readers to participate in this little poll. We value your opinions so much we are also opening our comments area below (well, it’s always open but for this post it’s more open than usual) if you have anything more to add. Just to give you more of an idea what you are voting for, we have provided links to several iPhone or iPod clones that we like from our pages.
1)C-002 HiPhone , 2) Boxu T32, 3) ONDA VX747, 4) Pasen iTouch, 5) Meizu M8, 6) RAmos miniQ or Q12.

I own an Apple iPhone, and use it daily, but I also bought a Cect 168 , HiPhone (Cect I32) and a Cect T32 (HiPhone Running WinMobile 6).
The iPhone is certainly the better piece overall, but all the others support AD2P, Dual Sims, microSD Slots, GUI Customization, Removable Batteries, Are Fully Unlocked and have countless others features that my iPhone simply doesn’t.
The HiPhones (I32 and T32) even feature accelerometers, multi-touch and many other features so coveted on the iPhone.
When it’s all said and done, the iPhone’s ‘designed in’ limitations often make these ‘clones’ far better choices for the end user in the long run.

Im thinking about buying a Hiphone. Does anyone know if they come in 850/1800/1900 gsm? And if there is configuration for the MMS messaging and the internet? I live in North Carolina and have Suncom wireless.

I have a HiPhone and have bought a CECT T32, I refuse to buy an iPhone because you are bound to a Mobile Phone Operator in my case o2, you are charged disgraceful prices which far outweigh the UK. With the T32 and the HiPhone you are free to use them on any system that you want.

I’ve purchased AND sold both the CECT P168 and CECT HiPHone i32.
P168 I could surf using the p168 but was disappointed by the depth and unnecessary menus you had to go through to get to everything - not to mention the garbled translation from Chinese to English you had to endure. Not to mention - the UN-Apple like icons, menus, and the screen not automatically flipping. I sold it after about two weeks use.
I thought I was better with the CECT i32 but was EVEN more disappointed with it. Although it looked MUCH more like an iPhone than the p168, icons were better - it was still clogged with unnecessary or bloated menu depths. The absolute WORSE part is that a great portion of the supposed features of the i32 didn’t even work! I have tmobile, and found out after a day there is some issue with being able to connect to the internet. Never got it to work. The speaker phone doesn’t work. The sim card button doesn’t even do anything - just produces some type of error.
So… after ONLY three days - I sold my i32!I’ve been fortunate and have recouped my money with people who didn’t care about the other features not working. So after two clone phones, I don’t know whether or not to give up.
Since selling my last phone I found about the T32 Meizu M8, and more since coming to this site, but egads - with the prices of these better models, I might as well buy a REAL iPhone!
The only thing extra that appeals to me is the dual SIM slot and memory slot. I have two cell phones and it’s really nice. If they could only get both SIMs to be active at the same time - that would sinch it for me.
Until then… I think I’ll be waiting for lower prices and more reliability… and fore Pete’s sake - LESS bloated menus and better translation.
Unless someone has some great insight into one of the “good” models - if there is one??

Well said. I tried the I32. One of the biggest mistakes of my life. I could not sell that thing to anyone so I returned it for a loss.
I went with the Iphone. Unlocked and Jailbroken to Tmobile. could not be happier. Though I really want the dual sim phone. I don’t want to be tired to one carrier and hoping a GMS company comes up with MetroPCS like service with unlimited calling for $40. not like the thieves with $99.

clones are the stupidest things in the world. The apple iphone is priced so high because of its ease of use. That is the reason itunes is free.

I am with at&t and I wanted a cool phone but I didn’t want to be one of the cows being milked by Apple. So I started with the P168 for the price I paid for it I was more than satisfied and I work in a wireless store. I would still have it if my son or wife had not broke it. I did some browsing online and saw the T32, a windows mobile 6 phone stacked with features. It is like having the key to a candy store as far as aftermarket programs go because it runs windows not Kitty cat, Cheeta, Jaguar or whatever Apple uses. Okay, Apple made the oringinal but the “knock offs” have taken what apple wanted to do and made it better. Google freewarepocketpc or xda-developers if you have a T32 and want tons of programs.

I am a Java specialist and we Integrate java softwares for different Mobile phones. I had read all your comments, and yes! Spartan is right. Technically speaking, iPhone is a better phone than T32, however T32 is much cheaper and has many advantages over iPhone…so, if you are planning to buy a T32 in future, just buy it and you will not regret if you know how to use it. T32 is not a phone for layman, dont buy just for the sake of it. As spartan said, “I am with at&t and I wanted a cool phone but I didn’t want to be one of the cows being milked by Apple. So I started with the P168 for the price I paid for it I was more than satisfied and I work in a wireless store. ” Wise men learn more from fools than fools from the wise!! Cheers.
