iPhone 2.0 (1.2.0 firmware) Jailbreak from iPhone Dev Team

Apple iPhone, Firmware, Software

iphone-20-jailbreak.jpg

The Jailbreak of the unreleased iPhone 2.0 software is here, and iPhone Dev Team takes full credit. Now, why jailbreak an iPhone that will already open its doors to third-party software via App Store and soon even Java is a mystery except for the fact that many iPhone users might want their apps for free. Yes, it’s difficult to please these iPhone (and iPod Touch) users.

Even better news for iPhone cheapskates, the 1.2.0 (technical-word for iPhone 2.0) jailbreak is a true jailbreak in the old-fashioned sense, unlocking the 1.20 iPhone for any network. Says the iPhone Dev Team: “the hacked 1.2 firmware works with anything. AT&T and others, it’s pwned. And Apple will not really be able to patch it this time… somehow :-)” Well, wow! This is the most stable iPhone jailbreak ever!

The most popular iPhone jailbreak I know is the ZiPhone jailbreak. This is for those people who’ve been emailing me about an easy way to unlock the iPhone EDGE-only and iPhone 3G.  It’s a software unlock and I know they give online support (you can ask them for help).

Download the iPhone 2.0 jailbreak/ unlocker. They already have the unlock for iPhone 2.0.1.

  1. Harry Says:

where can I find this 2.0 jailbreak software?

  2. John Says:

Are you kidding me! The dumbest thing they could do is to release the the Jail-breaking software now. That would give Apple almost three months to try to block the hack. (If it is blockable :) )

  3. hickstan Says:

also its the beta version of 1.2.0
soo it might not work on the final

  4. Ok Bartender Girl Says:

This is what I use now for my iPhone EDGE. ZiBri!

I’m gonna buy me an iPhone 3G as well.

  5. Bender Says:

    @Ok Bartender Girl,

Yep, been using the “ZiPhone” for three months now.

  9. Vince Says:

I get that apple wants as much money as they can get but in the article it says

“Now, why jailbreak an iPhone that will already open its doors to third-party software via App Store and soon even Java is a mystery except for the fact that many iPhone users might want their apps for free. Yes, it’s difficult to please these iPhone (and iPod Touch) users.”

“Us” Iphone users (especially the ones who shelled out 5 or $600 like me) want to jailbreak our phones because we have already put so much money into this project that I believe we deserve them free or Apple could have at least given us some money towards the itunes and the app store.
But that is Apple for ya.

  10. RussianMafiosi Says:

I agree. I swear by Ziphone unlocker. But I haven’t tried it on the iPhone 3G or the 2.0 software coz I haven’t downloaded the software yet.

  11. iphone edge only user Says:

can u test ZiPhone jailbreak method on an iPhone edge only and tell me if it works or not?
    thanx

  12. RAM Says:

After paying $25 but unable to unlock Iphone 2.0 (upgraded), please tell me steps.

  13. a Says:

these links are not acurate! 25$ for a 1.1.4 unlock you can still get from zibri’s blog? 1.2 unlock isn’t ****redacted for hard languager

  14. RussianMafiosi Says:

    RAM,

Which link did you click. Which one? They don’t seem all alike.

  15. RAM Says:

I just clicked above link “iPhone 2.0 unlocker here.” and it took me to Ziphone Unlock and they claim “We’re 3G Ready! version 2.0″.

  16. Godwin Says:

I paid for the software iphone 2.0 unlocker and I was directed to download ziphone GUI v2.5C jailbreak. I already have these software and is not exactly what I wanted. Can I get my money back as this software is not working. I am still at the recovery mode since I upgraded my firmware to 2.0 yesterday.
Please email the proper link for unlocking 2.0 or send me back the money I paid for the software.

  17. Lars Says:

Everyone follow instructions please, it says right there on the bottom left of the Ziphone page. It’s also important to take a look at their TUTORIAL page.

  18. BrianB Says:

    Hello everyone,

I haven’t tried this unlocker but it looks like a lot of you has been downloading it and I have only receive two complaints exactly. Hm. I” encouraging people who have visited this page (you know who you are) to use the comments section freely. It’s free and you don’t even have to leave your work or personal email. Just make a new one from yahoo or gmail or another free mailing service. I want feedback, people! :)

  19. Strength of D.O.D Says:

This Ziphone Jailbreak. Is it safe. I’m a technical klutz. Who did this jailbreak, anyone know. Are their identities super secret so Apple can’t file charges?

  20. noone important Says:

Let me explain why someone wants a jailbroke phone- Apple limits what the apps that are officially distributed can do. For instance, they can’t run in the background and take focus away when say an instant message comes in.

The really cool apps are not possible within the official Apple SDK and distribution system.

  21. BrianB Says:

Please guys, no hard profanities. I will delete any comment with them. I know you’re used to other tech sites accepting them, but this blog doesn’t like it. Honestly, I know school kids who read this blog on a weekly or even daily basis.

Note: If you have a complain about how this blog is being run, go to the contacts page and email me.

  22. mike b Says:

anyone know if any of the jailbreaks work for and iphone 3g?

  23. Majeed Says:

That site is a ot ccurat ! i paid 24.95$ and all I got was the Liberty+ which DOES NOT SUPPORT V2.0 !

  24. BrianB Says:

    Richard, Majeed,

The Ziphone site clearly states don’t upgrade yet. PMP Today updates on the most recent jailbreak effort, just click on the home button. We have many recent articles on iphone 2.0 jailbreak. As for your concern, I’ve changed the “misleading” text slightly. For our readers, please take note of the date of this blog. I write this alone and don’t have much time to keep daily updates of this old page. Just be aware.

  25. james! Says:

    DONT PAY FOR IT….
wait for Dev Team or Ziphone to come out within the next few days!

  26. Mersk Says:

But the leaderboard banner is the ZiPhone! Is that the jailbreak software to use for iPhone 2.0?

  27. Chindra Says:

So what is the difference between iPhone jailbreak and unlock?

  28. mwm Says:

A jailbreak lets you install third party applications on your phone without going through iTunes. An unlock (usually accomplished by a third party application Apple doesn’t approve of) lets you use your phone on GSM carriers other than AT&T (or whoever has the contract in your area).

  29. Jim Says:

I think one of the main reasons for wanting to jailbreak is the ability to access local files .

  30. Halo Halo Says:

Ok, I got two choices. The one 40 bucks and the other only 25 bucks. You have any suggestion. I’m not a geek but I own an iPhone and want it jailbroken. I know the links to free jailbreak sites but I have tried the iphone dev one like a year ago with firmware 1.1.3 or smth and it bricked, so I just want to pay up and keep my peace of mind. You recommend any one of these links above in your post?
