The Jailbreak of the unreleased iPhone 2.0 software is here, and iPhone Dev Team takes full credit. Now, why jailbreak an iPhone that will already open its doors to third-party software via App Store and soon even Java is a mystery except for the fact that many iPhone users might want their apps for free. Yes, it’s difficult to please these iPhone (and iPod Touch) users.
Even better news for iPhone cheapskates, the 1.2.0 (technical-word for iPhone 2.0) jailbreak is a true jailbreak in the old-fashioned sense, unlocking the 1.20 iPhone for any network. Says the iPhone Dev Team: “the hacked 1.2 firmware works with anything. AT&T and others, it’s pwned. And Apple will not really be able to patch it this time… somehow :-)” Well, wow! This is the most stable iPhone jailbreak ever!
The most popular iPhone jailbreak I know is the ZiPhone jailbreak. This is for those people who’ve been emailing me about an easy way to unlock the iPhone EDGE-only and iPhone 3G.ďż˝ It’s a software unlock and I know they give online support (you can ask them for help).
Download the iPhone 2.0 jailbreak/ unlocker. They already have the unlock for iPhone 2.0.1.

July 11th, 2008 at 12:04 pm
I get that apple wants as much money as they can get but in the article it says
“Now, why jailbreak an iPhone that will already open its doors to third-party software via App Store and soon even Java is a mystery except for the fact that many iPhone users might want their apps for free. Yes, it’s difficult to please these iPhone (and iPod Touch) users.”
“Us” Iphone users (especially the ones who shelled out 5 or $600 like me) want to jailbreak our phones because we have already put so much money into this project that I believe we deserve them free or Apple could have at least given us some money towards the itunes and the app store.
But that is Apple for ya.
July 11th, 2008 at 4:01 pm

This Ziphone Jailbreak. Is it safe. I’m a technical klutz. Who did this jailbreak, anyone know. Are their identities super secret so Apple can’t file charges?
July 13th, 2008 at 12:01 pm
Let me explain why someone wants a jailbroke phone- Apple limits what the apps that are officially distributed can do. For instance, they can’t run in the background and take focus away when say an instant message comes in.
The really cool apps are not possible within the official Apple SDK and distribution system.

Please guys, no hard profanities. I will delete any comment with them. I know you’re used to other tech sites accepting them, but this blog doesn’t like it. Honestly, I know school kids who read this blog on a weekly or even daily basis.

Richard, Majeed,
The Ziphone site clearly states don’t upgrade yet. PMP Today updates on the most recent jailbreak effort, just click on the home button. We have many recent articles on iphone 2.0 jailbreak. As for your concern, I’ve changed the “misleading” text slightly. For our readers, please take note of the date of this blog. I write this alone and don’t have much time to keep daily updates of this old page. Just be aware.

July 15th, 2008 at 2:18 pm
A jailbreak lets you install third party applications on your phone without going through iTunes. An unlock (usually accomplished by a third party application Apple doesn’t approve of) lets you use your phone on GSM carriers other than AT&T (or whoever has the contract in your area).
