The Apple iPhone may e dropping across the border come June. By then it will be one year after it launched in the U.S. Telcel, which services 72% of Mexican mobile users, is the most likely distributor. The question is, will it be the 3G version of the iPhone. Telcel clients number 49 million GSM subscribers. Rival Telefonica will be left struggling without iPhone and will most likely be holding its breath after the Telecel iPhone launching hoping Telecel won’t it up the rest of that small fraction of the Mexican market it does not yet have.
