Onda VX767 With 4.3-inch Wide Screen

25 03 2008

onda vx767

Onda’s VX767 is huge, and I mean wide screen huge. This PMP has 4.3 inches of widescreen ate 480 × 272-pixel resolution. I suppose they could’ve done better given that it rocks a 400 MHZ chip, and supports RM / RMVB format at resolutions of up to 720 × 576. I’m not sure this bigger version of the VX757 is better with more screen space but sacrificing on portability. I mean, this is what a device with a 4.3 inches of screen space would look like in small elegant hands.

Update: We got too excited about this player mentioning it is a touch screen when in fact it is not. Looks like a more straightforward upgrade from the VX757.

Full specs after the break.

Asus Eee PC to go Touch Screen

25 03 2008

If you have resigned to the fact that Asustek is not going to release a touch screen Eee PC, better prepare your excitement meter. Manufacturers in China supplying touch screen panels say Asus has ordered touch screen panels and it’s going to be a a resistive touch screen. The new bigger screen Eee PC is scheduled for release in Q2 and just might have these resistive touch screen for an extra $10 on the MSRP.

AnyCall Haptic SCH-W420 is Kind of an iPhone Clone

25 03 2008

I suppose this is another one of those iPhone clones, but it is a Samsung and it’s always wise to hold judgment against Korean manufacturers - that is, until someone out there can review this baby in-depth. The touch screen is a very long 3.2 inches with 16:9 aspect ratio bigger than any PMPs that we’ve seen and almost as good as the iPhone. The phone has a DMB Tuner, 2 megapixel camera and Bluetooth 2.0. Not much is known yet and the UI looks finished but I wonder if a more complete demo would impress like iPhone, besides the Haptic tactile feedback experience. Price is N95-ish at around $700 to $800)

iPhone Pro Will Have Video Chat Says Kevin Rose

24 03 2008

I’ll ask you to listen to watch the video right away because I have nothing really to say. The iPhone Pro with video IMing sounds too fancy and I’d rather settle for 3G speeds on the iPhone without the fancy schmansy new feature. But imagine being able to video chat on the iPhone… How much will that cost? When iPhone Pro or iPhone 2.0 or iPhone whatever comes out, I wish it would look this good.

Teclast M30 Unboxing

24 03 2008

We don’t normally post unboxing videos of little known PMP brands from China, but Teclast will be one of our exceptions from now on. Does its most recent announcement have something to do with this decision? You bet it does. The M30 is not a bad player itself. Though the LG Chocolate touch sensitive buttons are so typical for Chinese, the AMOLED screen more than makes up for it.

If you think this is something you want to invest on, I heard from somewhere that software updates are usually available for popular Chinese players, so think about it.

Engadget: SanDisk Sansa Fuze has the Best Scroll Wheel

23 03 2008

sansa-fuze.jpg

The Sansa Fuze is a $70 cheaper than the Nano and has a better scroll wheel. It looks like SanDisk has a real winner in their hands. Display is pretty competitive in its price and weight class and with additional FM tuner and microSD slot, the Sansa Fuze makes the iPod Nano look like a novelty.

Meizu M8 MiniOne New Interface Looks Fab

22 03 2008

meizu-m8-user-interface.jpg

Has Meizu finally stopped tweaking on the M8 phone, a.k.a the Chinese iPhone? Cnmo.com of China believes so, and they have published several scintillating photos of an all-black Meizu M8 phone. Yes, even the GUI is black. Now, I don’t know about how die-hard Apple fans would react to the photo above and the additional photos below, but you must be damned blind if you didn’t think the Chinese iPhone is just rad. And oh, it’s going to be released in China in August.

Here’s a sample of the write-up from cnmo.com:

The release of a new second-generation mobile phone M8 UI interface, compared with the previous generation to some more delicate, but still has not shaken off the shadow of Apple iPhone. First let Meizu M8 is the second-generation mobile phone player interface songs. Through the picture, we can see that the new interface will not only broadcast the song lyrics show an increase of the interface, the album also add detailed information. Not only can display album artist information, but also to the larger models show the album cover. Also selected songs are even more beautiful light patterns. You can also display audio player interface, users can visit their needs from regulation.

zzzPhone May Run on Android

21 03 2008

zzzphone-android-skype.jpg

Some more information on the customizable zzzPhone has surfaced courtesy of Crunch Gear’s Peter Ha. It’s not a scam, Ha says, though the official OS remains unknown. The zzzPhone could be running on Windows CE or Linux or even Google’s Android. There may be Skype calling on this phone, as well. Drooling yet?

What’s interesting is that the zzzPhone will come with 8 different motherboards to choose from, depending on the features you wanted in the phone. One model has an internal backup battery, which gives users 20 minutes of power without the battery. This is convenent for people who bring backup batteries for thir phones, giving them time to switch to a fresh battery. As for the price, please revisit.

Teclast M26 Touch Screen PMP

21 03 2008

teclast-m26.jpg

Taipower’s newest PMP is beautiful. Compared to the M25, the M26 is genuine alternative to Apple products in form factor. The M26, which comes in black and white versions, has a 2.6-inch WQVGA touch screen. It plays RMVB / RM / FLV / AVI videos with TV-out functionality. Audio will be enhanced with Microsoft’s PlayFX that features 3D headsets. The Teclast M26 isn’t priced yet, but we are almost certain it won’t cost anywhere near an iPod.

LG LH2300 Touch Web Phone

20 03 2008

lg-touch-web.jpg

LG’s Touch Web promises a phone with total web-surfing capabilities. It has a 3.0-inch touch screen with 800×480 resolution. There should be WiFi but it’s not mentioned. What is mentioned is T-DMB, Bluetooth 2.0 and a 3 megapixel camera. The user interface features a Quick Search icon. You browse tapping the Internet Hot Key and move around the page using a jog wheel. The Touch Web does not come cheap at abut $600.
