G108, a Watch Phone You’ll Actually Buy

8 04 2008

We’ve seen watch phones or phonewatches getting dropped by unknown manufacturers and blown away like leaves in autumn, but the G108 from a Chinese manufacturer has the looks of a success. Word is practicality. The G108 uses an analog display at the face as the only watch component. The face can be flipped open revealing a keypad shaped like a rotary dialer. The bototm of the face is where the display is located. It’s a mere 128 x 60 pixel screen, but it should work well for SMS and MMS as well as a viewfinder for the built-in 1.3MP camera.

No word on price yet, but, hopefully, it’s consistent with other fully featured Chinese devices.

More specs after the break.
