The iRiver W7 will be struggling to compete with lower-priced MP4 players. There are a number of 3-inch PMPs that go for less than 1,000 yuan but the WVGA 480 × 272-pixel screen of the W7 will be hard to beat. The W7 is not an NES, SNES emulator but the built-in Adobe Flash Lite 2.0.2 will allow for a multitude of Flash games. With the built-in mic, FM tuner and various video format support, the W7 is a highly competitive PMP. The only problem is the 2290 yuan price for the 8GB, which is about $328 or too pricey for the Chinese market, but we’ll see.
Note: iPod Touch and new Nanos have been available in China for many months. We have yet to hear about them making waves in the big country.
