Tech blog iLounge couldn’t believe it either: the iPhone screen is going to be smaller than the current one at about 3.2 inches, and that is just the big version. There’s even a smaller iPhone, coming with a 2.8-inch screen. Hm, something wrong with the picture above. After all these months covering iPhone clones and witnessing how each clone tries to outdo the other by offering a bigger screen and now here comes Apple doing a 180-degree in the screen factor.
The purported supplier, Host Optical, says that though smaller in size, their “projected capacitance touch panel” is superior to the iPhone 1.0’s touch panel. (See the technical drawing after the break.)The best we can hope for this revelation from Host Optical is that Apple may release a Nano version. The disturbing news is that the frame-to-screen ration is going to be significantly bigger in the new iPhones even the Nano one. My thinking is that Host Optical is not making screens for iPhone but for an iPhone clone. This could even be the final hardware version of the Meizu M8.

There’s even a Product(Red) version. And iChat AV. The screen is not so hot but the overall form factor is an improvement from the previous model. [...]
