Archos Bundle GPS Déballage from ArchosLounge on Vimeo.
Archoslounge, which concentrates on everything Archos, just finished a “huge review” of its GPS system. The PMP of choice was the 605 WiFi. The entire review consists of several videos including the lovely unboxing video above. Above we see the accessories including the windshield mount. The review will show you how to fix it to your windshield, among other things. Problem with mounting the Archos 605 on your windshield is bright sunlight. Just for these occasions, proper PNDs like the ones produced by TomTom is much better.

Reviewed:
–Test carried out under the 605 firmware version 2.0.10.

I am willing to bet that this GPS unit Archos sent, is a unit they combed over with fine tooth comb. Not the usual pieces of junk that they send the consumers. This company builds crap that is full of so many bugs, and tries to blame the consumer. The only difference between getting an Archos and getting the clap, is that with the clap you at least new you were getting f*** going into the thing. Archos blind sides your for $500 and then acts like there is nothing wrong.

I worked at Future Shop (here in Canada) for 4 1/2 years, selling Archos and ipods, etc.
At least at Future Shop (without buying their annoying extended warranty), Archos offers a one-year over-the-counter exchange! Not like Apple, which, even if you buy Future Shop’s extended warranty, you still have to deal with Apple!
If you have a problem by the end of the 12 months (user-replaceable batteries aren’t covered though), just bring it to Future Shop, and exchange it for a new Archos!
So at least Archos offers that. Don’t phone or email Archos, just deal with Future Shop for the exchange. At least that was the case up to February when I quit. Most salespeople want to sell their extended warranty so they won’t tell you, just ask at the customer service desk instead.
