The press release from Softbank does not survive machine translation too well. But this is what we know: The 8gb iPhone 3G will retail for 23,000 yen and the 16GB 34,560 yen or roughly $214 and $321. It will be initially available under the

white plan (photo above) but Blue and Orange plans coming soon. Japan is probably the only country where iPhone has a decent chance to actually fail. I’m not just talking about missing the million or so target sales but actually flopping. We’ll keep you up-to-date.
