I have a sciphone i68 the sound quality is horrible!!! I have finally got the phone were I can recieve mms messages thru at&t. The internet however is useless because I cannot read chinese!!! Ok guys, I’ve had this phone for a month. I had alot of the same problems you guys had…couldn’t get the internet up…istant msg failures and not getting my SDmemory to work. There are a few sites, I’m sorry I don’t have the links, found em late at night. There are sites that will help you set it up. It’s all in the settings. I had to go to engineering mode for the instant msgs. I know its frustrating, but once you get everything working this phone is awesome. It’s hard making a phone that works right for as many networks as this phone can use.
PS I have AT&T and don’t let them tell you stuff won’t work because you bought it overseas. That’s nonsense. Ask for a service refund if they won’t help, it’s their job!

So I really need some help with getting the language set up on my i68 ($108 from Ebay free shipping). I’ve set the language in settings>phone setup> Language set to english. Google has an option to get view “google in English” on the bottom but I’m really unable to get the other websites in english. Hey I just brough an i9 phone from ebay, and i can not get my att sim card to work, i have used an 3g and 2g card, and it always says insert sim. I took this phone to att store and they could not tell that it was not an iphone. They said it is not unlocked, anyone know how to unlock it? There are two slots of a sim card, the TOP one is SIM 1, you need the metal part facing done (notch on the left side), if you inserthe sim on the bottom, you need the metal part facing up. Note you need to select which sim you are using.. suggestion put it in top part. There is a way to unlock phone if it is not, but it comes unlocked.

Connect USB cable to Sciphone i68 and Laptop/PC. Now Sciphone asks for type of connection.
Choose connection type as USB Mass Storage. This should give you Sciphone as a USB pen drive. Now so easy to transefer music and other files..

The phone recognizes country codes so on some of my phone numbers i had to go back and put a 1 in front of them so the phone would recognize the person with the number.

regarding the country code ocming across and nothing else I never found a real solution to this problem, using a variety of smartphones, Q, e61, etc. What I do is have two numbers associated with the individual in my address book, one with the country code and one without. Which ever way it conmes thorugh depending on where you are, the adress boook should report the correct person.

to change the startup music heres what you do
touch settings icon -> user profiles -> Generals -> Customize -> Tones…
from tones you can select power on and set your desired tones.. for turned on….

OK. Now that I have address the main feature issues. I’m answer some more until I feel tired I guess or decide to stop being helpful.
1 - The security code should be either: 1122 or 1111 or 0000
2 - The phone only supports MP4 & 3GP video formats. SO you will need a convert to concert other video formats. You can conect the phone to your PC and drag and drop the correct video files into the video folder.
3 - For music the formats are MP3 I am not 100% certain if any other file types are supported. But you would place the MP3 songs into the MP3 folder when it is connect to the PC. You can also use these songs as ringtones.
3 - With Bluetooth songs from one phone to another: Open Documents (On your phone) > Select Memory Card > Select MP3 > (When you have found the sound of choice to send) Select Options > Select Forward > Select To Bluetooth > (Bluetooth has to be on) Find desired phone > and sned your file.
4 - I have downloaded some JAVA apps from (http://www.getjar.com/) but for some websites application you my need to go to there websites & it is also better to use an iPhone app. other than another phone app.
5 - If you phone slows down alot or becomes unresponsive do a Pen Calibration
(Settings > Pen Calibration) The battery life sucks on this phone can’t help you there.

You can turn off that vibrate, by going into the settings, Phone setup,than scroll down to Pen down vibration than bottom left it says OFF, and ON it is very sensitive keep working with it until it no longer vibrates. You really have to work with this phone. Is it worth the money? Yes if you like a challenge. Good Luck I do like my phone but I need a more simple model this one is advanced and takes some getting use to. PLEASE POST ANY INFO THAT WILL HELP. I NEED HELP GETTING THIS MMS TO SEND AND RECIEVE PHOTO MESSAGES, THE ONE THAT BIG IRV LEFT DID NOT WORK FOR ME. THANK YOU BIG IRV FOR GIVING THAT INFO IT DID HELP WITH THE SMS.

My I68 wont recognize any of the Cingular Sim cards in either of the slots..
2 days ago it was running fine. The simcards still work on the cingular and att phones.
I tried factory restore by using the passcode 1122 and it restored the defaults, but still
wont recognize the sim cards
just shows the classic “insert sim card”
anybody had the same problem and managed to solve it?

Replace ……. with proper data provided by your service provider.

First there are fake Sciphone i68+ out there….I found out the hard way. Dial *#8375# on your phone to make sure its an authentic phone.

ben adriano my phone memory card did the same thing. What I did to resolve that problem was to connect the SciPhone +i68 to the computer and reformatted the memory card/removable disk drive. If you need to configure your i68+ T-Mobile or AT&T check my responses in between 136 - 139.
If you did it and it didnt work then do it over again cause it didnt work the first time I did it either.
Jim Blake if the SIM Cards arent being read check and make sure they are in the slots correctly.
If you are experiencing difficulty with the sound lower the sound on your phone for when you are on phone calls.

First, you connect your phone with your computer by USB cable, then your computer will recognized this phone, the phone will show several options, you choose the first one”mass storage”, they you will find two discs, find the one disc with 4GB capacity with many folders in it like my music, photos, images, videos, ebook,etc.
To create a play list for audio player,:
You can just drag your Mp3 music from your PC to the folder of “Mp3″. When you finished, plug it out. get back to your phone menu, audio player, then, go to “list”, then the phone says “empty”, you click on the left corner”Options”, choose “Add”, then the phone will lead you to “File manager”, you can go to “Mp3″, you will see all your Mp3 in this folder. Choose every each song, then click “OK”. follow on this step, you will have all your music transferred to your play list on audio player.
To input photos,
You can just drage your photos from your PC to the folder of “photo”.Then all your photos were put into your memory card. If you want to use Album(image viewer) to view your photos, you go to”Album”-”options”, choose “storage”, then all your photos in memory card will be transferred to the phone.
Same way to put videos to the phone.

I am having problems with the new Sciphone i68 I just got off ebay. I called ATT and of course they would not help in any way since it is not a phone supported by them. I cannot get the network to recognize the sim. At first I had the card inserted wrong because I was getting the “emergency calls only” notification. Now it is inserted correctly but all the calls fail. I cannot call out or receive calls. When I go to the network setup, under Settings menu, and select or search for a network it will show that the sim is not registered. It will work in my razr and in an old LG phone I have. I know the problem is not with the sim itself or the way it is inserted. Any suggestions? Other than call AT&T because they will not help. PLEASE!!!

I don’t know if this will help you with your problem but I can walk you through the steps according to how my phone is laid out and see if that will get you settings in English.
On the first page of icons, you will see one that looks like a big gear with two little gears in the bottom corners. This is the settings icon. open it up and select the second choice. In my phone this is the Phone setup selection. Open up the next screen and also select the second line. It is the Language selection. Now on my phone, the very first line on the Language screen is English. Try that. If it don’t change to English, it should still change the language if your layout is the same as mine. If it changes but not to English, just repeat the steps until it does.

DAWN - i had the same prob. Have you tried changing the phone to either SIM 1 or SIM 2?
Turns out mine is always on SIM 2. It prob depends on which sim card slot you put your card in. Anyhow, select SIM 1 and if it doesn’t work, try SIM 2.

You put it on vibrate you do this:

Does anyone know if you organize your icon? For example, if I have an app on page 3, but I want it on page 2, can I reorganize where I want them?
I have no problem sending or receiving texts, but my phone doesn’t save my sent txts, is there an option for this?
And one more question, does this phone have predictive texting so I don’t have to spell out every word? Also, when you choose ABC or abc, there are alot of other options in different languages, can I turn these off so I don’t have to click through each of them to go from capital to small to numbers? I’m still discovering the how-to’s of this cellphone. I also had the same problem with the text and call showing numbers only, it is because whenever I add entries to my phonebook on my old cellphone, I edited the numbers and I remove the +(country code) and changed it to 0 instead, so what I did I changed everything in my phonebook and bringing it back to its original numbers (THANKS TO i68! MAKING MY LIFE SO MISERABLE AND DIFFICULT!!!) so I bring the numbers with its country code, for example, I’m from the Philippines and our country code is 63 so instead of putting 09207771234 I changed it one by one by putting it like this +639207771234, and now I can see the senders and the callers in my phone…hope this helps…

hello, the slot sim2 card , don¨t run, both sims are to the same company, i probe to restart the phone with the security code ,but dont run, the clear bottom and the ok bottom in the initial security insert pin code dont work when i press but i can hear the vibrating noise.
The profile sim settings are in dual sim mode.
Both sims works in the card 1 slot whitought any problem , but the pone it´s bloked the slot2 or the software dont run to this mode.

ok, to put music on your i68 phone plug in your usb cable - now select mass storage on your phone-
then when the auto play window appears on your computer screen select “open folder to view files”
from there select music or what ever file you keep your music - then simply drag songs to the music folder on the left hand side of the screen. its pretty easy- hope this helps

Solution to the white screen problem or “white screen of death” mentioned by IslandBoi (Comment 68) - same as for Iphone. Perform a hard reset. For Sciphone, this entails leaving the phone on while removing the battery, then waiting at least a minute or so before replacing it. Good luck.

FYI- this phone is not automatically set for internet for AT&T users. You must manually set the settings. You can do a search on youtube and be walked through the process. I received mine in the mail yesterday, and am pretty pleased. Calls,internet,and text messaging work fine. The Sciphone 198, is a piece of junk. plain and simple. I bought it thinking i would get something like an apple iphone, and physically it looks just like one, but trust me the thing is literally junk. It is NOTHING like the i-phone you can not get ANY apple applications on the phone the setup is completely 100% different. You cant turn it sideways and make it a big keyboard. The texting is impossible without the stylus[ the little pen], you have to setup EVERYTHING, and that is VERY complicated. The internet, the texting, and the picture messanging. I had a problems with getting the time correct, getting the alarm correct, turning the volume down, changing the ringtones, getting anything onto the phone at all, figuring out the games. None of that i could figure out. Also you need to go buy yourself a memory card , because the memory on the phone holds nothing. All in all I couldnt figure anything out, and I had to send the phone back for a refund, I told the guy the day I recieved it I wanted a refund, and he charged me for the shipping fees, and restocking fees and i lost 30 dollars for absolutely nothing. I DO NOT RECOMMEND ANYONE BUY THIS PHONE. I BELIEVE IT IS A MAJOR SCAM. You are better off buying the real thing. Any phone in the world would be easier to use then this.

I got the 3G Sciphone i68 since April and it works pretty well. It is just a lookalike to iphone and has its own problems. The thing is that most of you wanted the iphone. If you want the iphone plz pay for it. It took me a few weeks to learn how to use this phone and now I like it. The guy who can’t play mp4 movies should change his media player to read from memory instead from phone. The guy who wants vibration should select “Meeting” profile instead of “General”. You need some patience to get to know the phone better. The guy whose original menu is in chinese should ask for help online or contact the nearest chinese restaurant for help. This is unusual since the default menu comes in English. Others should contact “Jailbreakers” for additional games and to remove all the chinese games and stuff they don’t need. There are so many good advices on blogs and those complaining are either too lazy to check or think this is an iphone which is not. It is a pity that some people got malfunctioning devices. They should be refunded.

In the menus, when i click on an icon for a longer time, they start shaking and i can resort them. But how do i save the new arrangement? The shaking does not stop and if i press the Home button, the arrangement goes back to what it was before.

This is for the ones that do not know how to set up there internet and SMS & MMS it should have come with the disc that come with you phone .. insert in to your Drive open the drive you will see Internet and MMS setting click open that you will see ATT 1st scroll down to you see T-Mobile Setting you have to follow all instruction in oreder are it will not work for you..
After you have did all the setting make sure you save I had to do this twice before I got it right … Below is the instruction..

For the internet with AT&T, go to http://gr8er1.com/shop/page/2?shop_param= This is a great tutorial on how to set up your internet and MMS on your Sciphone I68/I9 3G. Also has alot more tutorials for this phone. Hope this helps some people out. I would recommend getting the internet plan on your phone before doing this. the bill can get racked up alot!

I also forgot, people with T-mobile. for setting up your internet, Call T-mobile and ask for the Unsupported phones Department and tell them what phone you have. They should be able to walk you through setting up your phone.

Has anyone actually downloaded some of the free games/apps (offered on this site) onto their sciphone? I want to download, but I’m afraid it’ll screw up my phone.
Also how do you download? Do you download the apps to your computer first then transfer it to phone or connect phone to computer and download it directly to phone file?
One more thing (sorry) in the manual it says “Turn off your phone before you want to download MP3 or movies to your phone.” Why do you have to turn your phone off? I never had to do that with my nokia. Needless to say, the phone won’t read the music from my sim card and I even formatted it…ugh

I think the i68 does NOT work with 3G, but the i68+ does. You also have to reconfig the browser (see website on Answer 340). Don’t know if that’ll help or not

91% of EVERYONE’S problems here can be solved by looking at posts:
182 Da Mrs - WAP settings etc.
252 Jen - How to add tunes
136 & 137 Big Irv - WAP, MMS etc settings for some carriers (if it doesn’t work it’s only because your on a different carrier to Big Irv!! just check what is relevant for your carriers APN & address)
139 Big Irv - User Manual
138 Big Irv - Security codes etc. out of abovementioned manual + getjar for java apps (he recommends to use iphone but I’ve also found CECT A100 works just as good & Nokia 2610 if you are running out of options)
222 Michael D - Kudos, my hat goes off to you at least your head is screwed on (google?? what’s that??)
296 kkentos - You are exactly right…If you want an iphone BUY AN IPHONE!! But…some people’s problems could also be because you have FAKE Sciphone’s - buying a knock off of a knock off??
Use *#8375# to get your firmware version & *#06# for your imei then go to http://www.mysciphone.com as they should be able to give you PRETTY GOOD ADVICE THERE!! (but I think someone’s already posted about that too.

good night, a couple of days to buy a sciphone, is a copy of iphone, I call attention that can handle two phone lines with two different chips, however, unless I’m mistaken, is a serious mistake, there someone that I can explain how do I make a call from a text message, something that any cell can make but I think with this phone, can anyone help me? do not think it possible that if one receives a message can not be called directly from there to the person who sent the message but have to go to the phone book.

hello, i have read all of the post on the website. i cant not transfer music from my pc to the device either. Also when i connect the usb to the computer and phone, nothing happens. I just recieved the phone this morning and soon as the battery touched the battery exponents, it began to vibrate and has been doing so all day. i have chosen to turn off all vibrate options but it still vibrates. The vibraing gets worse when i plug the usb cord in. Can anyone help. Even tho i have problems with the phone, i like it and would like to keep it but i keep having these problems.
