Apple iPhone

Talks between Apple and China Mobile has been confirmed. It appears, China Unicom is out of the picture and the Chinese do not have to settle for iterations of HiPhone. With Apple’s tough revenue sharing program dropped, both parties are only too eager to discuss a possible distribution deal. China Mobile is China’s largest provider and China is the world’s biggest handset market. No date has been set but Gao Songge, deputy director of China Mobile’s general department, puts it rather simply but oh-so-sweet: “We’ve broken through the biggest obstacle and we are negotiating at the working level.” Also take note of the rumor that of the 17 million iPhone 3Gs Apple is readying, 2 million are EDGE-only. Since China doesn’t have 3G implemented, the 2 million must be intended for the country.
