So you just took home a new Samsung Instinct and a new two-year contract from Sprint and was somewhat unsatisfied by the phone. Interface might be slower than expected or multitasking is not what you understood from the ads. If you think the Instinct could be better, you’re not alone. Sprint may be releasing a new software update real soon. Check it out.

“I apologize for your disappointment regarding some of the software. We will have a software upgrade available 6/30/08. You can request a software update on your phone on that date. Press the home icon and tap main. Tap settings, then tap general, scroll down and tap update software.”

From what I understand… Sprint is done with updates… you have what you have. My suggestion is to return the so called “I-Phone Killer” and demand your money back along with your previous plan that you had to give up for this phone.

Any third party apps will have to be written with sprints poor software… in other words there will be limited third party apps.

I love my Instinct. I get updates to it all the time. Works great. Everything I wanted and more in a phone.

Wendi… we are not talking about the minor updates to the phone applications (and they are not frequent). We are talking about the major updates in the firmware that cover major issues such as web browser, java support, opera support and a host of others. You probably have not noticed because your use of the phone is just to make calls. You will discover as you have the phone there are issues that need to be resolved.

I recently updated my software by going to Main>Settings>General>Update Software. The update takes about 5 minutes. The only change I know about is the ability to go to full screen mode in the web browser. This can be accomplished by pressing the “Speech to Action” button (found on the top middle of the device while you are looking at the browser).

Does anyone know of additional changes that have been implemented in this update?

I left another carrier and my blackberry for this STINK phone… Wow, what was i thinking…. they said this and that and i did not do my research… my emails look like text messages with no color or life, nothing close to an eamil… My video files are choppy and disfigured… The camera has no zoom with no get up and go features…The STINK can barely complete one thing, let alone completing two or more… I have attempted to sync my unit with my computer several times with the assitance of “customer support” and I still have not synced the two together… No need to add any additional tv channels…the channels i have dont work consistantly… There are some good points….The mapping/ gps program is Super!! Oh yeah, the phone works.
