The App Store has launched with 500 applications, over a hundred of which are for free. The 500 third-party apps available on the site is more than double what Steve Jobs expected when he made the announcement for Apple’s new business. Notable apps include iPhone Remote for iTunes, Google Mobile, eBay, Twitterrific (Twitter client), NYC Subways (subway maps in New York) and Epocrates RX (includes Pill ID and drug search). For a taste of the iPhone Remote for iTunes, go to Gizmodo. Engadget has good list of very useful apps including a game called Bomberman Touch. Or just go over to the App Store for a walk-through.
This is almost a case of over-satiation from Apple. So why would people be interested in a jailbroken iPhone now? Just take a look at the results of our little iPhone 3G poll.
