Apple, Inc announced today July 14th that 3 days after iPhone 3G’s release, already a million units have flown off the shelf. This is just the first leg of the release. France will follow on July 17th and the rest of the world later this year.
“iPhone 3G had a stunning opening weekend,” said Steve Jobs, Apple’s CEO. “It took 74 days to sell the first one million original iPhones, so the new iPhone 3G is clearly off to a great start around the world.”
Also, users have been madly downloading applications from the App Store. Some of these apps are free, but there was yet no information how much Apple earned from selling iPhone 2.0 applications over the weekend. Here’s a distribution chart of all the iPhone and iPod Touch apps available through the App Store.
