We’ve been wondering how Apple could improve the iPod Touch to version 2.1 without making too many changes. Not that we don’t want a new design for Apple’s PMP, but since Apple didn’t mess too much with the iPhone design it doesn’t seem wise to expect something radical on the next iPod Touch iteration - something conservative then. But how about 64GB of onboard storage and the addition of 3G for conservative?
More rumors here.

I wouldn’t hold my breath for 3G on the replacement for the iPOD touch - look at it this way. The new iPhone cost is so low because Apple made a deal with AT&T to subsidize the cost. In return, AT&T get’s everyone to buy a 2 year contract. So - the real question is how will Apple sell a new iPod touch that is going to have a retail cost that is now more than the new iPhone? Apple won’t sell it for less than it costs to manufacture and I don’t believe that Apple will take a much lower profit margin just to price it lower than the subsidized priced iPhone.

iPod Touches will always be more expensive than the iPhone price. Apple is tricking users. Buy a cheap, 200$ iPhone, who wouldn’t? But the trick is that the plan costs 10$ more than before, to compensate for 3G Networking, AND, the price of the phone. smart huh? The Phone is still at it’s normal price with the cost of 3G too.
According to Steve Jobs, the iPod Touch will not be likely to change till 2010. Steve Jobs said in an interview that what customers wanted was a radical redesign for 2007, and then software updates for the next 2-4 years before a new generation release.

David99!! You need a correction… not only does it cost $199 for the 8GB or $299 for a 16GB iPhone 3G BUT you need to pay for a $70/month plan. You can’t go lower because it’s required to have the 3G internet which is $30… altogether its a $40 mintues plan + $30 internet for 2 years plus the $199/$299!! That’s waaaaaaaaaaaaay to much money there.
