Intel Classmate Tablet PC: The Netbook Reinvented

It looks like Intel’s Classmate PC is getting a new sibling in the form of a convertible tablet PC. Aptly named the Intel Classmate Tablet, this new iteration of Intel’s netbook sports an 8.9-inch touch screen and sports a more modern color scheme. It also comes with technology that’ll improve tablet functionality such as a built-in accelerometer to automatically change the screen orientation, palm rejection which allows your hand to touch the display without having it interfere with handwriting recognition, and a GUI overlay for easy access to most used applications.

As you can see in the mismatched color of handle and touchpad keys; this isn’t the final product yet, but we expect only some minor tweaking will be done prior to its release. Date and pricing is something we’re really looking out for as this new tablet netbook will definitely change the whole ballgame once it hits the market. If it’s priced and built just right, it’ll be a worthy adversary to the very expensive Fujitsu U2010.
