Coinciding with the debut of the new look of their web portal, Facebook has also announced that version 2.0 of the iPhone/iPod Touch app will arrive in the App Store in September. They’ve also made available preview screen shots of what we can expect from the latest update to the social networking app specially designed for Apple’s premier mobile device.

More info and screenshots after the break.
Similar to its web counterpart, the Profile page will feature tabs for easy navigation to the various sections of the page as well as a combined Wall and mini-feed.
The News Feeds will feature all the content you’ll find in the Facebook website including videos.
The new Inbox will now give you access to all your messages and not just the first 30 messages.
Notifications will take advantage of the push services of Apple allowing you to receive new notifications even when you’re not running the app.
Last, but not the least, version 2.0 will finally include a Search, Request and Approve functionality so that you can easily add more Friends to your ever-growing list of contacts even when you’re on the go.
It’s a pretty nice list of improvements that will surely give more functionality to the Facebook app. It just goes to show how the great divide between the internet and mobile devices are slowly being bridged with new technology and the efforts of individuals who want to deliver up-to-date content and services to their users. I wonder what MySpace has in store for us in the coming months?
