Veering away from the popular Eee PC line, Asus has come out with N10. Just by its looks alone, you can certainly tell that it doesn’t carry any resemblance to the premier netbook line of Asus, and its specs, so far, is as impressive as its new look. It’s expected to come with a 10-inch display with a max resolution of 1024×600, WiFi, Bluetooth, Altec Lansing speakers, HDMI out, a finger-print scanner, card reader, and a 1.3-megapixel camera.

With most netbooks choosing the Intel Atom processor; one would think that this will be the same too, but if they plan to release it with a price that’s well within the range of the Eee, then this might be the area where they’ll cut back on cost.
It might not be scented or feature tablet PC functionality, but the new features are indeed something new we have yet to see in a sub-compact notebook. Pricing and availability has not be disclosed, but we’re guessing it won’t be long before the N10 finally becomes official. In the meantime, we’re keeping our fingers crossed hoping that the price and over-all functionality won’t be sacrificed in the pursuit of trying to come up with a new flagship model for the netbook segment of the market.

I can’t wait to find out which distribution of Linux it will be pre-loaded with. Ubuntu, I hope. Fingers crossed!

Going by the windows button, it’ll probably come with Windows. If it does come with Linux, I think it’s highly likely it’ll be Xandros, since Asus has invested a bit of money and time on it’s own customisation of that.
