Acer Aspire One to get 3G in Taiwan

Not being content with just WiFi, there’s news that the Acer Aspire One will be getting 3G or wireless broadband connectivity in Taiwan soon. The additional feature might cost around $95 more to its current price, but that shouldn’t matter too much as it’s already one of the cheapest netbooks around. There’s also the possible option to get it from Taiwan Mobile wherein the cost will be subsidized when you get it as part of a 3G subscription package. No word though if this new 3G upgraded model will be offered elsewhere in the world.

Though we have yet to see this actually become a reality, one can’t help but wonder; is 3G connectivity the next step in the evolution of the netbook? If so, will more telecoms jump on the netbook bandwagon as well? I definitely think so, but manufacturers and telecoms should find a way to provide 3G services that won’t require users to continually swap their SIM from their mobile phone to their netbook to use it as such is the case with current available products in the market.
