Alongside the unveiling of the 4G Nano and the 2G iPod Touch, Apple has announced the release of software update 2.1. As promised, the new 2.1 firmware is Apple’s fix to all those bugs and problems 2.0.1 and 2.0.2 have been giving iPhone/iPod Touch users. Steve promises fewer dropped calls, huge battery life improvement and faster backups. Still sorely missing, though, is copy and paste, but the fixes firmware 2.1 will provide should appease the troops for the time being.
Those using an iPod Touch and paid for the 2.0 update can get the new 2.1 firmware for free. The rest will have to pay $10 for the update. Expect this update to become available via iTunes later this week. I guess the iPhone dev team has their work cut out for them this coming week as folks will surely be clamoring for an iphone 2.1 jailbreak pretty soon.
