All the doubts about the upcoming Samsung M8800 mobile phone is finally laid to rest with these live pictures and the company announcing it in a small, but official event. It seems that the Bresson name is out the door, and in lieu of it is the new Pixon title. It was unveiled in such a quiet manner that we feel that a bigger event will take place sometime in the near future for its grand reveal. So, as far as features go, what has the M8800 have to offer? It’s got a 3.2-inch 400×240 touchscreen, 8-megapixel camera with recognition, smile detection and a bunch of others imaging tools, triband HSDPA, GPS, Bluetooth, FM radio, DivX playback and an accelerometer as well.

The only downside to it, as opposed to the INNOV8 and Omnia, is that it runs on a proprietary OS and lacks WiFi. Otherwise, it looks to be quite a well-featured multimedia handset like its brethren. Here’s a promotional video of the Samsung M8800.
It’s expected to start shipping in November with a price of 550 Euro, roughly $800 in the US. I wonder if Nokia and company has something in the works to rival Samsung 8-megapixel monster shooters.

It looks familiar very much - akin to a number of similar Samsung devices, TOCCO F480, S5230 Star…etc. 8-megapixel camera is the headline feature of this phone, though, these days 8mp cameraphones are still rather exotic. The Samsung Pixon is loaded with features - a superb camera, and a superb music player. But the lack of Wi-Fi connectivity is a shame, which must be a probable reason for people not to choose this phone.
