Version 2.0 of Audi 4 Driving Experience has been out for quite sometime now and after weeks of trying to get the hang of things, I must say, it’s still quite a challenge to play around with and it’s still not in a good way. We’ve given you a review of the first version we toyed around with and even made suggestions along the way, and with this new updated version, they managed to include some of our suggestions but still fall short of expectation.
More after the break.
So what’s exactly new and good about version 2.0? Well, there’s a completely useless but entertaining video at the start which makes you believe that the new iteration of the game is indeed a step up from its older version. It also now incorporates a track overview as well as steering sensitivity options.
Likewise, you can pick from additional car models as well as select tracks when you’ve managed to progress through the various stages. You can also now pause the game by simply double-tapping on the screen. It’s all good if the game itself was implemented properly.
The steering sensitivity control helps a little bit, but overall, over-steering is still inevitable and it still lacks a certain “feel” to it that’s usually associated with driving simulation game such as this one. The track itself also still lacks clear delineation and still uses orange cones which if you topple over adds certain time penalties to your overall record.
While I appreciate the changes they’ve made, the overall performance of the game didn’t change and I still stand by my earlier statement that this is one particular game that would benefit from a product such as JoyPod. Maybe I’m a little bit harsh on this game, but I truly believe that this game has a lot of potential and it has a long way to go as far as gameplay is concerned. Maybe there’s better one out there that’s likewise free that we just haven’t encountered yet, so don’t be afraid to give us a shout out so we can try it out.
