PSP-3000 unboxed, not that different from PSP-2000

Curious about the new PSP-3000? Well, Engadget’s got their own set of unboxing pics to whet your appetite for this latest PSP from Sony, but for those interested to know how different the new PSP-3000 is from its older sibling the PSP-2000, there’s very little to changes to point out. At first glance, you can even mistake the new one from the old one or vice-versa, but if you pay close attention to detail, you’ll probably notice the small improvements Sony has made to their premiere portable gaming console.

Side-by-side comparison after the break.

Famitsu was good enough to take side-by-side pictures of the PSP-3000 and PSP-2000 and as you can see, the edges have been tapered and are now more curved in the new PSP giving it a slightly more sexy look. The circle around the PSP logo at the back has also undergone some trimming as well giving it a more subtle yet elegant finish.

Besides those two design changes, you can hardly tell the two apart. However, when you do turn it on, you’ll be happy to discover that the PSP-3000’s screen is brighter and better than the old one.

This is the biggest and most significant change you can expect in the PSP-3000, and while it’s not as evolutionary as Nintendo DSi, it might be good enough for first time PSP owners. We’re still hoping that more significant changes will be done on the PSP (read: Bluetooth and camera) down, but for now, this is as good as it gets.
