While Sony Ericsson may have announced that September 30 was the supposed release date of the XPERIA X1, some countries including the Philippines have yet to see one selling in any of the local stores.
Well, we’ve got some good news for those residing in the Philippines. November 14 is now the big day for the release of the XPERIA X1 in the country as Sony Ericsson Philippines has official confirmed this. Sony Ericsson concept shops nationwide will start selling the much anticipated Windows Mobile-based smartphone on that day, but if you want to be guaranteed a unit, check out their XPERIA X1 site on November 1 where you can make an advanced reservation for your very own X1. How much will it cost? Let’s just say its a hairline below P40K which makes it cheaper than a 16GB 3G iPhone (prepaid kit) or a Nokia N96 from a Nokia store in the local market.
While we still can’t definitively say if it is indeed worth that amount of money just yet, think of it this way; Samsung alternatives average in the mid P30k while HTC’s are in the upper P40K making the XPERIA X1 right smack in the middle. As far as price is concerned, it’s not the cheapest, but it sure is not the most expensive either. So, now that you know when the XPERIA X1 will be released and how much will it cost; will you be one of the first people to own one in the Philippines?

isn’t it kinda expensive? coz the camera is only 3mp and the samsung omnia is 5?

In reply to Denise, yeah its a bit pricey but take into account that Sony has better optics than Samsung does. Its just a given that SE photos come out better not counting any effects applied afterwards. Also the SEx1 has a physical keyboard which the omnia does not.
I can’t wait for this release, its been a long wait. I sure hope its below 40k because I’m sure it’ll be dated by the time the next WinMo is released.
