Looking for the perfect gadget this Christmas? The Philips Luxe MP3 player-cum-cellphone headset. Philips Luxe feature Bluetooth 2.1 that can be paired with the cellphone so you will never miss a call while listening to music. It’s a brilliant take on technology trend that puts entertainment capabilities on a cellphone. For over five years now companies have been cramming music players and, later on, video players into cellphones but Philips is the first to explore the idea that a separate music player that nevertheless receives calls (via Bluetooth) would be the best way to keep your cellphone battery charged the entire day.
The Philips Luxe will launch in Singapore next month. It is priced cheaply at S$139 or about $94 USD. It also features an FM tuner and a strip of LCD that gives you the caller’s number. There’s only 2GB of memory onboard. The Philip Luxe will play 10 hours of music and the photo indicates that it will be first-class audio the user will be enjoying.

[...] It’ll pause your tunes automatically when a call comes in, so be careful about singing along with that hot new Britney Spears track when your mom calls. Due to come out in Singapore next month, it’s priced at S$139, or $94 USD, or 4 cans of beans PEC (post-econopocalyptic currency). Oh, and it’s really, really sparkly. [PMP Today] [...]

[...] Philips’ GoGear line hasn’t exactly sent us into uncontrollable fits of jubilation of late, but the latest DAP to fall under the aforesaid umbrella doesn’t look half bad. Boasting a prism-like motif and integrated Bluetooth 2.1 functionality, this unit will actually pause your tunes and allow you to answer a call if your BT-enabled phone is nearby and paired up. It also features 10-hours of playback time and 100-hours in standby, and there’s an FM tuner included in case you roll through 2GB of jams and just can’t bear to hear any of them again. Word on the street has it that this bugger will surface in Singapore next month for around S$139 ($92), though other Asian countries should see it pop up shortly thereafter. [Via PMPToday] [...]

[...] The sparkly, diamond-esque Philips Luxe mp3 player is a tale of contradictions. On the one hand, it’s an mp3 player with a mere 2GB of memory, a scant 10 hours of battery life, a one-line LCD screen, and an expected acai of around $90. On the other hand, it’s a feature-packed Bluetooth 2.1 headset, providing 100 hours of standby time, an FM radio, and excellent sound quality. It’ll pause your tunes automatically when a call comes in, so be careful about singing along with that hot new Britney Spears track when your mom calls. [...] Posted in Philips GoGear LUXE, PhilipsGogearLuxe …………….
