Japanese folks sure know how to build them gadgets. While the rest of the world was amazed at how the HTC Touch HD packs in a 3.8-inch display with 800×480 resolution, the engineers and designers over in Japan were cooking up the Aquos FullTouch 931SH that comes equipped with a similar sized screen and bumps up the resolution to a stunning 1024×480. They also manages to incorporate a 5.2-megapixel camera with image stabilizer, 1-seg TV tuner, Bluetooth with A2DP, and 3G connectivity. Too good to be true? Sort of. This will only be made available in Japan through Softbank leaving the rest of the world to look on in envy with what the people in the land of the rising sun will soon get to enjoy. Maybe this will serve as a wake-up call for the rest of the mobile phone manufacturing community to step up their game to be able to come up with equally impressive devices in 2009.

Like I’m going to have to move to Japan, hah. No phone in the world is going to teach me enough Japanese to live there however. On a more serious note though, it is interesting to see the difference between that of the US and Japan. People flock to the iPhone and I read some where the average cost people in the US spend on a phone is about $84. Tried using an iPhone myself, was just surprised I couldn’t type with my nails as I usually do on my ipaq 4700 from 4 years ago or so. Interesting how these “new products” sometimes simply do not outdo the older products we have had.
