Another netbook brand to add to the well-saturated mini-laptop market isn’t a bad thing in itself, not intrinsically. Hercules has improved the Le eCafe EC-800 to the EC-900. As the name suggests, this netbook, which now has 8.9 inches of screen space from 8 inches flat, like the Eee PC, has been built for web browsing on the go… in this case, you will usually find the Le eCafe at Starbucks and the like. Starting at 330 euros, the EC-900 is not the cheapest netbook out there, though. Specs include an Intel Atom N720 processor running at 1.6 GHz a definite upgrade from the AMD Geode LX 800 of the EC-800, WiFi b/g/n, stereo speakers, 3 USB ports, a VGA connector and an SDHC card slot. The 6 cell battery is a good addition from the pathetic 4 cell of the EC-800. One interesting innovation of Hercules’ is the addition of a mic on the right of the trackpad. Hope that works out for chatters.
