This latest news shouldn’t come as a surprise anymore as the iPhone Dev Team has built a reputation for themselves as being as reliable as the sun rising in the east when it comes to jailbreaking and unlocking the iPhone. With the latest news of home activation making a huge comeback this holiday season courtesy of AT&T, the question on when a 3G iPhone unlock will become available has become even more relevant. Well, we could see it released as early as New Year’s Eve but they are quick to note that this first release will only work with 3G iPhone basebands 2.11.07 and earlier. It may not be perfect, but that’s good enough an unlock for me. So I guess it’s time to start the countdown as the New Year will definitely be the start of a whole new unlocking chapter in the life of the 3G iPhone.
