Apple has released 2.2.1 firmware update for the iPhone so it shouldn’t come as a surprise if the iPhone Dev Team comes out with an appropriate iPhone 2.2.1 jailbreak to crack this latest firmware. Mac users will be happy to know that a full Pwnage Tool for you. Windows users, on the other hand, are still limited to QuickPwn, but they reassure that’s it has been updated already to version 2.2.5-2. They also give a stern warning that if you plan to unlock your 3G iPhone, you shouldn’t upgrade the baseband as YellowSnow doesn’t work on it. So, essentially, you have to upgrade to firmware 2.2.1 without applying the new baseband settings. Likewise, they’ve provided instructions on how to fix the DFU issues on Mac OS X 10.5.6. Their latest post is a very comprehensive and pretty detailed one which will pretty much answer all your question regarding their newest release and on what device it’ll work on.
If you still don’t know how to unlock your iPhone 3G, you can read our YellowSnow iPhone 3G Unlock page for more details.
