The Internet Media Tablet is the next device to have the Archos branding, and Archos has chosen Google’s Android as the OS to take it into the mobile computing future. After announcing its own netbook, the Archos 10, the company is setting its sights on multimedia tablets like the recently announced Archos 5 and Archos 7.
With Android, this is what the Archos IMT will have specs-wise:
* PC-like Internet experience enhanced by a high-resolution 5″ screen and full-width page viewing
* Adobe Flash(TM) and Flash Video(TM) support, full screen
* Access whenever and wherever to TV, movies, photos, music and games
* Uncompromised TV recording and High Definition (HD) playback, all formats
* Hundreds of hours of video storage, up to 500 GB
* Innovative design: compact 10-mm ultra-thin tablet
* Long battery life, 7 hours’ video playback
* 3.5G 7.2 Mb/s HSUPA
* Laptop-like performance from the first implementation of OMAP3440 processor based on the ARM(R) Cortex(TM) superscalar microprocessor and DSP
I suppose Archos will not forget what made its name great: high-quality movie and music playback.

Great. They first never came through on the HD support for the 605. Then told us if we want it, we have to get the 5, since that is where the HD support was going to be. Now we are being told once again, that we need this instead of the 5 if we want HD support? Are they out of their “F” ‘ n mind? Where the hell is the TV snap- on for the 5 we were promised? Where the hell is the GPS support for the 5 we were promised? HOW ABOUT YOU FIX THE 10,000,000 GLITCHES ON THE 5 FIRST! This company is just pumping as much garbage (and I do mean garbage) as it can, to grab as much money as it can. I know corporation are around to make money, but this is just getting down right dirty and greedy.

I am a very disappointed owner of an Archos 705 WiFi (160GB). The sound levels are horrible low as nearly every Archos user forum will show. In reviews of Archos products on such online store as Amazon also show the sound levels to be the number 1 complaint, among several others/
Archos has completely and utterly ignored complaints from users. I even sent mine in for repair, thinking surely it was defective. But they returned it “No Problem Found.” Further calls to tech support (the number 2 complaint) proved equally useless.
I paid $450 for my unit, add on the DVR Docking Station, extra batters and a host of add on features that I had to pay for (the number 3 complaint) and the total comes to around $800 for an entertainment unit that I had hoped to use on airplanes (I travel a lot for work). Yet the sound levels are so darned low that I can barely hear the movie on the plane.
I have no such problem with my little, tiny Creative Zen with its 2-inch screen. The sound on this little wonder is awesome and the screen is great, too. It is a pity they don’t make one with a much larger screen — a 7″ screen!
And it is shameful that Archos, with the large enclosure it had to work with, couldn’t even match the quality of my little pocket player. Problem is that I NEED a larger player like Archos. And that they would not even address the many issues users were complaining about, especially the sound issue, is really, really low.
I will NEVER purchase another Archos unit unless I have the opportunity to try it out first.
Check out other forums and user sites. You will see I tell the truth. (Oh, you will find people who love their units and swear by them, but the number of people you will find who have serious complaints will shock you.)

I also will NEVER purchase another Archos product following appalling service since purchasing the 7.
Was really looking forward to purchasing the 10, but refused as Archos support is non existant.
I agree with all the negative comments as machine continually freezes while in use. TV option is a nightmare to set up and fails to work properly. The internet is slower than a snale.
DONT BUY AN ARCHOS SAVE YOURSELF A LOT OF FRUSTRATION IF YOU DO YOU ARE IN FOR A HEART ATTACK
