We all know and love netbooks; the diminutive, low cost computers that may not have much under the hood, but don’t take up much room or much of your bank account. Unfortunately most netbooks seem to come only with 3-cell batteries, yielding only 3-4 hours of battery life. More models are now available with 6-cell options, boosting battery life to a very respectable 6-8 hours. But what if you want more?

eBay seller haobattery is offering a 9-cell 7800mAh aftermarket battery for the Samsung NC10, which does already have a 5800mAh 6-cell option. Aftermarket batteries are always a risk, given there is no OEM to be held accountable for safety and power regulation. Many OEM notebook batteries have power regulation and safety circuits built into the batter itself, which you are not guaranteed to have in an aftermarket replacement. Buyer beware.

That said, the honking 9-cell replacement here delivers in spades for battery life. UMPCFever did some testing recently and published some great results. While not quite a full 50% upgrade in runtime, the results are impressive.

How about up to 12 hours of runtime? Doing some light web browsing here and there? Expect over 9 hours, likely over 10 even. While this is not an inexpensive aftermarket battery option, for $99 you can have a spare battery for your Samsung NC10 that will net you a full work day of runtime.
