When you upgrade your iPod Touch to iPhone 3.0 firmware, you’ll finally be able to use that Broadcom BCM4325 Bluetooth chip inside every iPod Touch since the second gen. A2DP and wireless gaming is included with a $9.95 upgrade to the new firmware. Honestly, only the lack of Bluetooth stands in the way of the Apple PMP from becoming the perfect non-phone mobile device. For those people who are waiting for Nike+ on the iPod Touch, I’m sorry to say they’ll have to settle for the smaller iPod lineup.

Wow iPod touch has added new feature on cellphone generation. The new generation of iPod is now on its best selling price which every body can now afford to buy. Because of this new feature iPod is now on top of the line compared to others.

iPod or iPhone is upadted too fast, even many functions are good, but I think people will tire to chase it.

The bluetooth chip found inside of the second generation iPod Touch has been used for Nike+ ever since the second generation iPod Touch went on sale. To prove this, Nike+ is found in the settings area of every second generation iPod Touch, and there are many videos on YouTube reviewing the feature too. Plus, you can buy the Nike+ sensors from the online Apple Store which explicitely state that they work with the second generation iPod Touch. Just thought of pointing this out because I think this feature is constantly overlooked (especially in this case), and because I already use Nike+ with my second generation iPod Touch

I just got 3.0. for my 2nd Gen iPod touch, I was dissapointed to see that all I can do is pair it with headphones. No other fun BT features included, but maybe I am wrong. I hope I am.

My bluetooth-enabled blackberry can detect my ipod, and even recognizes it’s name — but then asks for the ipod’s numeric key in order to pair up. Anyone know what this key is?

I can get my iPod touch to connect to my computer, and my cellpohen, but as soon as i hit connect a connection is registered on the target device, and apparently immendiately terminated. I just got the update too and was dissapointed to learn that the bluetooth does almost nothing, even though this should have been able to make the iPod touch into a phone with just a simple headset (but the cheeky bastards probably won’t ever enable bluetooth mics for the iPod, they want you to buy the iPhone), so does this mean for now Apple is determined to give us extra “privilages” to use on our own damn devices WE bought for more “JUST 9.95!: updates? I think this is absurd, I should be able to use everything that I paid for!

I have a 2nd gen Ipod Touch and an earbud headset with an inline mic and I make calls on Skype all the time. All you need is a Wi-Fi connection.

I was told by an Apple rep that Apple has to upgrade the firmware for the Ipod Touch to enable bluetooth headsets. 3rd Gen doesn’t do it. It’s going to take an additional fix.
