From a PMP with WiFi, the SmartQ 5 has become a full-pledged MID and it will be available for an unbelievable price of 899 yuan or about $132. Besides the WiFi, Bluetooth and touchscreen, this MID boasts a 4.3-inch 800 x 480 high-def screen. To me this piece of news from China is almost as exciting as the iPhone 3.0 firmware update.
I can’t wait to get a look at how this will actually work. Most of the other accessories you’ll need to fully use Ubuntu will be available through USB dongle, and, hopefully, a decent roll-up keyboard will be available when this comes out.
