Apparently, there seems to be some unrest in the iPhone jailbreak land. No, we’re not talking about the iPhone Dev Team, but rather, the other bunch of guys who develop apps that work on jailbroken iPhones.
Installous is one of them. These guys came from Hackulous and have come up with a free app that allows users to download pirated iPhone apps sort of like an App Store for jailbroken iPhones. Its rival, Mega, also launched a similar service albeit charging a subscription fee of $9.99 for 1 month, $23.99 for 3 months and $41.99 for 6 months. This got the ire of Hackulous not only because they were charging people, but more importantly, because they could have also ripped off some codes from them to create their app. So, in turn, Hackulous released Grabulous, an app that allows free access to all of the apps offered by Mega bypassing their subscription system. As a result, Mega has removed their subscription fee and is now just asking for donations.
Now, everything’s back to status quo at the moment, but one thing’s for sure, jailbroken iPhone users now have more options at their disposal as to which app to use to download pirated iPhone apps. Don’t you just love competition?
