This isn’t definite yet, but it’s the best we have as far as the Palm Pre’s release is concerned. According to the latest report, the Palm Pre could be released as early as May 17 if enough units for retail are delivered by then. If not, Sprint, the official mobile carrier of the phone in the US, will push back the release date to June 29 giving Palm ample time to come up with the goods. We’re not sure why Palm should have a problem meeting the May deadline considering that they should, by now, have a decent stock primed and ready for public consumption, but hey, knowing Palm, anything can happen.

Anyway, May isn’t that far away so let’s just keep our fingers crossed that enough Palm Pre units will get delivered on time so it can be released on May 17th.
