Apple blew us away with all the goodies that iPhone firmware 3.0 is coming with, and it seems that the Android OS isn’t that far behind. Android 1.5 “Cupcake” isn’t actually an official firmware update, but it’s now available for G1 users which will provide users with video recording functionality, new browser features, an onscreen keyboard and a whole lot of other treats. Don’t be fooled, though, with the added features as the core of this version is still basically the same. However, just be sure to install the HTC-sourced build denoted by the H suffix as opposed to the Google-source build. Google-source builds apparently can’t access the Android Market anymore. HTC-sourced builds, fortunately, still work perfectly fine. So, if you’re a G1 user, go ahead and try the Android 1.5 Cupcake update. While you’re at it, tell us what you think about it as we’d love to hear you take on this unofficial update.
