The Nokia 5800 XpressMusic phone has been the sole bright spot in the Finnish company’s campaign in 2009, but admittedly, it’s still no iPhone. However, as the latest rumors indicate, it looks like Nokia has plans to make it a little bit more responsive by switching out its resistive touchscreen display with a capacitive screen. Granted that the other S60-based touchscreen phone, the Samsung i8910, already features a capacitive screen, it makes perfect sense to go down the same road to make the 5800 XpressMusic even more competitive with its other rivals in the market. But truthfully, while I do think this is a very good first step towards the right direction, I still feel that the S60 5th Edition OS as whole could use a little sprucing up to really take the Mac OS X mobile and Android OS head on. After all, nowadays, the OS is making all the difference in the touchscreen phones out now.
