Developers now have a new reason to look forward to the release of iPhone OS 3.0.
The improved Parental Controls in this latest firmware will apparently make it easier for apps to get approved for distribution at the App Store. This is what was gathered based on the experience of Makayama with their Newspaper(s) app. It was rejected by Apple due to a topless picture of a woman. However, an accompanying letter suggesting that they resubmit their app once OS 3.0 is released gives hope, not only to Makayama, but also to other app developers out there who have been turned down by Apple. Apparently, with the new Parental Controls system in place, Apple will be handing over responsibility to users with regards to app usage as opposed to them being sole judge and jury.
Of course, we’re not sure how lenient Apple will be as a result of the new Parental Controls in OS 3.0, but hope is still hope and that’s all we can cling on to at the moment.
