If you’re planning to be among the first owners of the Palm Pre, you better be an early riser because it seems that there will only be a limited number of stock available when it goes on retail next month. Here’s a quote from Reuters of Sprint CEO Dan Hesse discussing the Palm Pre:

“We don’t intend to advertise it heavily early on because we think we are going to have shortages for a while,” Hesse said according to a Thomson Reuters transcript. “We won’t be able to keep up with demand for the device in the early period of time.”

Word is that only a total of 200K Palm Pre units will be available in Q3, and that will be spread across Europe and Canada aside from the US. Safe to say, this will definitely be selling hot like pancakes. So, if you’re the type who likes to be the first to own everything, it wouldn’t be a bad idea to start camping out for the Palm Pre unless you’re willing to wait for Christmas for a fresh new batch of Palm Pre units to arrive.
