Palm Pre shortage issue Officially addressed by Sprint

Sat, May 23, 2009

Industry News, Mobile Phone

palm-pre-shortageWe reported a couple of days ago that there might be a shortage of Palm Pre units once it goes on retail next month. The exact figure of 200K units mentioned isn’t by any stretch official, but it’s enough to really get us worried over its availability in the first couple of months when it hits the market. With many anticipating the Palm Pre’s release next month, it would be a shame if both Palm and Sprint can’t cope up with the demand for this next-generation smartphone. Unfortunately, that seems to be the case with all these Palm Pre shortage rumors floating around.

In light of this, Sprint has finally broken their silence and issued an official statement regarding all these speculation regarding the Palm Pre inventory:

At Sprint, we’re excited by the response to the Palm Pre, but what’s been posted is pure speculation. Because of the Pre’s popularity, it’s likely that initially we won’t be able to keep up with the demand for the device. If that happens, we will work diligently to ensure that everyone who wants a Pre can get one as soon as possible.

So, they neither confirmed nor denied the stock figure, but they do, however, assure us that they’re working hard to meet the expectations of everyone. Do they really have a decent inventory of the Palm Pre for its launch next month, or are they just hiding the fact that Palm still doesn’t have enough Palm Pre units ready for its grand market debut? We’ll probably never really know. So for now, it would be best to get your camping gear ready if you’re really determined to be one of the first Palm Pre owners across the globe.

Its so stupid makes me so angry so now sprint has insulted by not only telling me
that were not premier level customers but that we won’t be able to get a early look
at the pre on Friday I am so pissed even if they would have enough for me to get one
on Saturday I will end my service asap and get a iphone. 3 years of over 140+ a month
isn’t enough to be consider premier F U SPRINT.

Now why would you be stupid and get an iphpne and pay at least $30 to $40 more a month for lkes service?Doesn’t even make sense, and then you are going to find out that others that were smart enough to stick around have a much better phone and are not limited and locked down by Apples Nazi like ways.. Don’t be an idiot avgjoe..I thought the average joe was smarter then that!!!

Ya why would you cancel when you haven’t even tried to get a Pre yet. You don’t even
know if you can get one. Atleast try first and go from there. Sprint may throw in
some perks if you can’t get one on launch. You haven’t even tried yet and you are
quitting, what’s up with that. Doesn’t sound like you really want a Pre to begin
with. You as a consumer have to put forth a bit of effort to obtain the phone.
Unless you believe that Sprint should just hand you everything. I am a so called
Sprint Premiere customer does that entitle me to get the Palm Pre first before non
    premiere customers?
